February 2026 NC&C Newsletter

News this month.

Farewell and Good Luck !

We are very sad to farewell Marianna Vera our resident Remedial Massage provider and powerhouse cleaner.

Marianna has been a wonderful contributor to the Canoe Centre for the last 3 and a half years. We wish her all the best in the next chapter of her life.

Market and Open Mic

This month, we had our first ever combined Nymboida Market and Open Mic!

The event was very successful and our Cafe staff were run off their feet. Thanks to all stallholders, our wonderful musicians Tommy and Phil, and everyone who turned up.

This will be a regular monthly event taking place on the third Sunday of every month, with the next one on Sunday 15th of March.

Amazing Gardening Work

Anyone who has been down to the Canoe  Centre recently will have noted the garden out the front of the cafe has really kicked on. This is the result of the wonderful volunteer work done by Lorraine and Janice. Janice has gone home to France, but on behalf of all of us I would like to thank her for all the work that she has done for us. We hope to see her back in Australia in the not too distant future!

We also need to thank Lorraine who has managed to find us another volunteer! Kelly from Kangaroo Creek,  will be volunteering time on our gardens. Welcome Kelly and thank you for helping us out.

Anyone else who would like to lend a hand is welcome to pop in on a Wednesday morning to join in the fun!

Wagtails Cafe

This month we have had two new exciting pie flavors, Rick’s Mediterranean and Maia’s Rogan Josh!

All of Wagtails Café’s food is handmade on-site, with love! Thank you very much to all our wonderful staff and volunteers.

Cafe Hours

Our early-bird baristas will not be working this week (2nd-8th March), but the cafe will still be open every Friday - Monday 9am - 2pm

March 9th - 13th 7am - 2pm every day

March 15th - 29th 9am - 2pm every day

If early morning trade continues to be a success, these new extended hours may continue. We would like to thank everyone who supported us during these trial periods and we hope to see you soon!

Community Shed Update

This month the solar inverter has been commissioned, the kitchen benches have been installed and the plumbing fit-out has started. We are hopeful that the shed will be completed by the end of March. The transfer of the Nymboida Tool Library Assets to the Canoe Centre took place this month. Once the shed is operational, we will be reviewing and consolidating all storage across the Canoe Centre’s sheds and containers. Once this mammoth task has been completed we will roll out the hiring procedures for the revamped tool bank.

Friday Community Nights

We would like to host Community Fun nights on Fridays in the big shed! Activities will be free and fun for the whole family and a great way for the community to come together!

If you have not yet replied to the survey about community Friday night, please drop you survey in or simply fill out the online version here.
